NOTEBOOK: Pouncey Twins Featured On NFL.com; Other Notes

Posted Dec 19, 2012

Poignant video segment gives fresh insight into brothers’ family.

Football fans in North Florida, South Florida and Pittsburgh are plenty familiar with the story of the Pouncey twins. It’s been written about a lot, but now thanks to NFL.com the story can be seen and heard.

Episode 17 of Season 3 of The Season is titled “My Brother’s Keeper,” and it chronicles the lives of Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey and Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey. The piece takes the viewer inside the brothers’ homes and sheds light on the family dynamic that exists between them and their parents, Lisa and Robert Webster. Lisa is their biological mother and Robert stepped right in to be their father figure.

Both parents made the trip down for the December 2nd home game against the New England Patriots and were interviewed for the segment at that time. There is some good footage of the family together at Mike’s house and of the parents in the stands at Sun Life Stadium, as well as footage shot in Pittsburgh during their visits.

The closeness that exists between Mike and Maurkice is very evident, as are the life lessons they were taught by Lisa and Robert. The fact that both brothers were taken in the first round of back-to-back NFL Drafts in 2010 and 2011 only begins to tell the story.

DOLPHINS TIDBITS

## After weeks of diversity in the song selection during stretching and warm-ups, things went back to normal today with a hip-hop theme. Kendrick Lamar’s “Money Tree” started things off, followed by “911” by Rick Ross. The last song was “Problem” by Drake, Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz.

## Rookie wide receiver Rishard Matthews barely missed catching a laser from rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the first quarter against Jacksonville last week, but he made amends in practice with a nice grab of a similar pass.
