Sounds of hammering, drilling, painting, and trees being clipped could all be heard as this group came together to accomplish the task at hand. These tasks, that could be done by most, could not be done by Eddie and Virginia Smith any longer.
The Smiths have occupied their South Florida home for 37 years and are currently sharing it with 3 of their 15 grandchildren. Eddie, a 61-year-old retired Air Force veteran, now serves as a parking attendant at Mt. Nebo Baptist church where Virginia is a minister. The Smiths take great pride in their home, but unfortunately the upkeep became too much for them.
The couple looked on as their house quickly underwent a beautiful transformation. It was truly a community effort as All Star Events and Dade Paper helped to provide on-site services, and a donation that went towards purchasing rebuilding materials. This Rebuilding Together project is just one of the many that the Miami Dolphins Organization has been proud to be a part of as everyone helped to rebuild, together.
On being involved in the rebuilding project, Brent Grimes stated, "It makes me feel good that we are helping out a veteran. Vets do so much for this country, and any way you can to support them, and this is a great way for us to show our appreciation for what they've done for our country."
